Coyotes Baseball Welcomes Seven New Members to the Pack

The Coyotes baseball program and head coach Nick Garritano announced the signing of seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2018 season.  Garritano who is entering his seventh season as manager for the Coyotes said "I'm very excitied to see what these kids can do on the field, not only are they tremendous competitors they are fine young men as well. They're all great locker room guys and display the type of leadership we are looking for."  Coach Garritano is expecting all seven players to come in and compete immediately for starting roles.   
 
 
1021AJ Amelburu will be coming to CSN from Green Valley HS. He is the son of Alex and Tomi Amelburu.  At 5'10" 180 Lb. Amelburu is a born SS that will be expected to compete for the starting SS job next fall and has the ability to play 2nd base as well.  He hits from the right side of the plate and has great baseball intelligence.  AJ was selected as a 1st team all division and 1st team all -  region player and a 2nd team all -  Southern Nevada selection his junior year.  Quote from Corey Gehlken, AJ's HS coach: "AJ Amelburu is the kind of player that is a dream for a coach.  He plays the game the way that any coach can be extremely proud of, hardworking, smart and 100% dedicated to improving his skills in every way possible.  AJ is absolutely the heart and soul of the Green Valley Baseball program.  CSN and Coach Garritano will be very happy with the decision to bring AJ into their program.  He is the type of player that you build your team around.  He is the most well rounded model of consistency I have ever been around as a coach and is the epitome of our school moto "Commitment to Excellence" and is a great example of our baseball program here at Green Valley High School."


1022Jay DeSoto will be coming to CSN from Bonanza HS.  He is the son Sean and Denise -.  At 5'6" 170 Lb., DeSoto will be expected to compete for the starting 2nd base job next fall and has the ability to play 3rd base as well.  Jay hits from the right side of the plate and displays tremendous actions in all phases of the game.  Jay was selected rookie of the year his sophomore year at Bonanza HS and was voted his teams MVP his junior season.  Quote from Mike O'Rourke, Jay's HS coach: "Jay is the heart and soul of our team.  He's the guy other kids look up too and follow.  His work ethic is unmatched, every day he is trying to make himself better, whether it is on the field, in the weight room or the classroom.  He makes others around him better by his effort, attitude and leadership."





1026Nick "Chewy" Hernandez will be coming to CSN from Bishop Gorman HS.  He is the son of David and Vicki Hernandez.  At 6'0" 220 Lb., Hernandez will be expected to compete for the starting catching position and has the ability to play both corner infield positions as well.  Nick hits from the right side of the plate and will bring in middle of the order type of power to our program.  Quote from Gino DiMaria, Nick's HS coach: "Chewy brings a tremendous level of mental and physical toughness to our program.  He is a yes sir, no sir type of player.  He brings lots of power to our program at the plate and he brings intelligence and defense behind the plate.  Chewy is definitely a coach's pleasure to coach and we are looking for big things out of him this spring."





1024Kyle Horton will be coming to CSN from Centennial HS.  He is the son of Les Horton and Casey Henderson.  At 6'4" 195 Lb., Horton will be expected to compete for a starting OF job next fall as well as a spot on our pitching staff.  Kyle pitches and hits from the right side and displays tons of leverage with his swing and very good arm strength on the mound.  He was selected 1st team all -  region, 1st team all -  Southern Nevada and 1st team All – State his junior year.  4-year varsity starter and a member of the 2014 and 2016 Nevada State runners up.  Quote from Charlie Cerrone, Kyle's HS coach: "Kyle Horton has been a major contributor to the success of Centennial's baseball program for the last three years, not only because he's a great baseball player, but because he's a great person that is hard-working and loyal.  We look forward to his senior leadership this year, greater things to come."




1025Michael Marinch will be coming to CSN from Palo Verde HS.  He is the son of Gary and Donna Marinch.  Michael is a low ¾ arm slot right hander.  At 6'1" 195 Lb., Marinch is expected to compete for a spot within our pitching staff.  He possesses lots of late sink and arm side run that should induce many ground ball outs for us next year. Michael was a member of Palo's State Championship Connie Mack team this past summer.  Quote from Joe Hallead, Michael's HS coach: "Michael has major upside as he continues to work on his craft.  He has a mid to upper 80's fastball and a competitor on the mound.  He is a very good student and great person off of the field as well."






1023Kevin "Buddy" Pindel will be coming to CSN from Silverado HS.  He is the son of Jackie and Kevin Pindel. At 6'2" 190 Lb.,   Pindel is a right handed pitcher that will be expected to compete for a spot within our pitching staff.  He possesses a ton of command with 3 pitches and has pitched in many of Silverado's big games over the past 3 seasons.  Buddy was selected 1st Team All Region, 2nd Team All Southern Nevada and an honorable mention All -  State pitcher his junior year.  Quote from Brian Whitaker, Buddy's HS coach: "Buddy has shown that he is a young man with high ideals and respect for himself and those around him.  He has exhibited leadership among his fellow teammates and students which has earned him the respect and esteem of his peers.  He has an exceptional work ethic and incredible desire to succeed.  His mature sense of team and self – pride coupled with his intelligence and an extreme desire to succeed place him at the highest level of student – athletes that I have ever been around.  It has been my good fortune to have been associated with such an outstanding individual as Buddy Pindel.



1027Nick Rupp will be coming to CSN from Spring Valley HS.  He is the son Lori Rupp.  At 5'9" 175 Lb., Rupp pitches from the left side and will be expected to compete for a spot within our pitching staff.  He possesses a bulldog mentality that will be a key ingredient to his success at CSN.  Nick was selected 1st team All – division, 1st team All Region and 1st team All state in both his sophomore and junior seasons.  Quote from Paul Bassett, Nick's HS coach: "Nick's ability to believe in himself and pitch with no fear has led to all of his success.  Nick has brought unbelievable leadership, confidence and positivity to the Spring Valley baseball program.  It has been a pleasure to coach Nick and watch him grow on and off of the baseball field."
