After a pair of frustrating losses last night the Coyotes were champing at the bit to get back on the field and themselves back on the winning track versus GateWay community college.
The Geckos struck for a pair of runs in the top of the third inning, however this time CSN had an answer. The Coyotes put a four spot up in the bottom of the 3rd to take its first lead of the ball game.
Lefty
Ben Cutting came out of the Coyote's pen to fire four innings of shutout relief to earn his first victory of the 2017 season.
The dynamic duo of
Dillon Johnson and
Jay Martz combined to go 6-8 with two runs and a pair of RBI's.
With two outs in the top of the 9th, the Geckos had a runner on second representing the tying run with Marcus Ybarra at the plate. Ybarra drove a ball to right field and with the tying run rounding third
Christian Maggi fired a laser to Nico Festa gunning down the potential tying run at the plate for a electric out ending both the inning and game.
Freshman Alex Tsminezky clutched up in the 9th to earn his second save of the weekend.
Our Coyotes will be back in action Thursday night at home for the first of a four game set vs. Cochise College.
