The College of Southern Nevada entered the 2017 Coyote Slug Out looking to keep its five game winning streak rolling and sharpen its play on both sides in the final tune-up game before Scenic West Athletic Conference play begins on March 10th.
Todd Danzeisen took the ball for the Coyotes looking to earn his team leading fourth victory of 2017 while extending the Coyotes win streak to six games.
Danzeisen threw seven quality innings of two run baseball, walking just one batter and striking out four.
Offensively the Coyotes plated five runners in the first two innings highlighted by team RBI leader
Justin Lutes (21) plating a pair of on a bases loaded walk and a rope double to right field. Lutes finished the contest with a pair of RBI's to go along with his NJCAA leading 22nd, 23rd and 24th walks of the season.
Jason Wallace paced the team with four RBI's and shortstop
Jay Martz chipped in the three RBI's of his own.
CSN defeated Prairie Baseball Academy 10-2 in the opening game of the Coyote Slug Out to extend the teams winning streak to six games and improve its overall season mark to 10-7.
Game two of the weekend featured lefty
Ben Cutting on the bump looking to build upon teammate
Todd Danzeisen's stellar performance in the opening game of the tournament. Ben masterfully controlled the PBA bats over his five innings of work, allowing just a single run and hit while striking out a pair of Dawgs.
CSN answered PBA's run in the top of the first inning with a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings, eventually taking a 5-1 lead into the top of the eighth.
The Dawgs picked themselves off the mat in the top of the eighth inning to ignite a four run rally off sophomores
Dan Skelly and
Blake Inouye to knot the game up 5-5.
Inouye pitched a three up,three down top of the ninth to set the stage for an epic ninth inning walk-off by the Coyotes.
With Nico Festa standing on second base, sophomore Joey O' Brien singled back up the box, setting up a collision at home plate to decide the contest.
Festa barreled over Dawgs catcher Tyson Abbott to score the game winning run and extend the Coyotes win streak to seven. CSN defeated PBA 6-5 in thrilling fashion to improve to 11-7 on the season.
Freshman
Isaiah Blaylock took the mound looking to extend his nine-inning scoreless streak and earn his second win of the year at the expense of another Canadian baseball team.
Blaylock dazzled in his three innings of work, allowing just one hit, striking out three and extending his scoreless innings streak to a dozen.
The Coyotes built an 8-0 lead by scoring at least one run in the teams first four frames of offense to put some distance between themselves and the Golden Bears.
Outfielder
Kaid Urban had a career high four RBI's to pace the Coyotes offense Friday night and freshman
Michael Camburn produced three RBI's of his own with a bases clearing double in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Freshman combo
Jordan Macias and
Peyton Koopman combined to score a pair of runs while producing four hits and RBI's apiece.
Lefty
Ryan Jackson took the mound in the top of the sixth inning to a near standing ovation from his coaches and teammates to throw his first pitches in a Coyote uniform. The former Kansas Jayhawk, Jackson completed the inning with a pair of strikeouts and returned to the dugout with a thunderous ovation from his teammates as well as the Coyote faithful.
CSN defeated the University of Alberta 14-4 to extend its winning streak to eight games and improve its overall season mark to 12-7.
The final game of the weekend for the Coyotes featured a "Johnny Wholestaff" approach, as Coach
Nick Garritano planned on using a total of five arms in the teams final tune-up before conference play.
Trevor Mullaney got the start for CSN, pitching two innings of scoreless baseball to earn victory number one of 2017.

Timmy Burtzloff,
Alex Tisminezky and
Dan Skelly combined to allow just a single run and a pair of hits over their nine combined innings of work.
Offensively the Coyotes erupted to plate thirteen runs in the first three innings of the game, to put its ninth consecutive victory on ice early.
Dillon Johnson and
Justin Lutes did the heavy lifting offensively as the dynamic duo combined to produce four hits, six RBI's and score a pair of runs in nine plate appearances.
Kaid Urban and
Michael Camburn's bats remained hot with a pair of RBI's each as the Coyotes plated fifteen runs on a season high nineteen hits.
CSN extended its win streak to nine straight games after dismantling the Golden Bears 15-1, improving its overall record to 13-7 heading into conference play.
Fans your Coyotes will be off this weekend as they prepare to open up SWAC play Friday March 10th in Rangely, Colorado versus the CNCC Spartans.
