After Cochise College took the prior weekend series 3-1, the Coyotes took the field with a shot at redemption as Todd Danzeisen took the hill.
Danzeisen showed up ready to play and was lights out for the first several innings.
It was not until the 4
th with 2 outs that Danzeisen would allow the Apaches' first run on their first hit.
His counterpart also held the Coyotes to a relatively lifeless outing. The Coyotes offense showed sparks but couldn't catch fire as they left numerous runners on base throughout the game.
The Apaches would add on to their total with a run in the 5
th and another in the 6
th. Danziesen would be replaced by
Dan Skelly to close out the 6
th.
With their backs against the wall,
Christian Maggi lead off the bottom of the 6
th with a triple. Maggi would remain there until a sacrifice-fly from
Justin Lutes would bring him home and put the Coyotes on the board.
The Apaches would go to their bull-pen to collect the final out of the 6
th and leave 2 more Coyotes stranded on base.
The score would remain the same until the bottom of the 8
th when
Kaid Urban would double and bring home
Jay Martz and
Jordan Macias to tie the game heading to the final frame.
Cochise College would immediately take the momentum and the lead back in the top of the 9
th with a lead-off single followed by a walk and then back to back RBIs.
Skelly would then be replaced by
Alex Tisminezky.
Tisminezky would give up 2 more RBIs before collecting the final outs.
The 4 run lead would prove to be too much to overcome as the Coyotes would ground out and fly out twice to end the game.
The Coyotes left 9 runners on base as they fall once again to Cochise 7-3.
CSN will take on the defending national champions Yavapai Rough Riders tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at Leid Field at Morse Stadium on the Henderson campus.
