Coyote Baseball Captures Scenic West Athletic Conference Title For The Third Straight Year

By James Hernandez

For the third consecutive season and fourth time in five years, the CSN Coyotes baseball team has earned the right to call itself Scenic West Athletic Conference champions.

Following a 4-7 start to the season these Coyotes put together a 32-5 run that included multiple win streaks of ten games or more and a 23-5 SWAC record ( four regular season games remaining)  to secure a conference crown.

One of the rewards for winning the SWAC is the right to host the Region XVIII tournament at your home ball park and Lied Field at Morse Stadium will welcome in the rest of the SWAC to Southern Nevada May 11-13th for an ultra-competitive weekend of junior college baseball. The winner of the Region XVIII tourney will move onto to Arizona and compete with three other teams in the 2017 Western District Tournament field where the winner will earn a trip to the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

CSN has been nearly unbeatable in "The Den" over the last three seasons, especially in conference play. The Coyotes have amassed a 78-17 (82% win pct.) overall mark at home, which includes going 48-6 (88% win pct.) versus conference opponents. "Morse Magic" should be alive and well in two weeks so make your plans to attend the 2017 Region XVIII tournament and be part of one of the premier postseason tournaments in the country.
