Coyotes dream season ends at the hands of the Governors

Box Score

By James Hernandez

The College of Southern Nevada entered Sunday a perfect 8-0 when facing elimination this season, so you couldn't fault the team for believing it could make it nine straight versus Wallace-Dothan.

Nicco Festa got the scoring started in the top of the third when he deposited a towering solo shot to left field off Governors wins leader Ethan Michaelis. Unfortunately for CSN, Michaelis settled in to pitch one of his best games of the year. The righty threw scoreless frames in the middle innings, allowing Wallace-Dothan to surge ahead and take control of the game.

After trailing 1-0 the Govs offense came to life in a big way, plating crooked numbers in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take a commanding 9-1 lead.

Philip Sieli and Joey Bend paced the Govs offense as the duo combined to score four runs with six hits and 6 runs batted in.

Joey O'Brien and Jay Martz one RBI apiece in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 9-3, however it was too little too late. The clock struck midnight on CSN's season as Wallace-Dothan eliminated the Coyotes from the 2017 Junior College World Series with an 11-3 victory.
