TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- College of Southern Nevada baseball coach Nick Garritano earned his 100th career victory at CSN on Saturday, when the Coyotes started the day by closing out Friday's suspended game with a 5-3 win over the College of Southern Idaho on Saturday at Skip Walker Field.

CSN (32-13, 20-8 Scenic West Athletic Conference) went on to win the first game of Saturday's scheduled doubleheader 5-1, then lost a tough one in the nightcap, 1-0 in nine innings.  The Coyotes dropped the series opener 5-2 on Friday.

In Friday's loss, CSN opened up the scoring in the first when Evan Van Hoosier scored on an error.  CSI (26-21, 15-13 SWAC) answered right back in the bottom of the frame with a run on a ground out.  The Coyotes broke the tie in the fourth when Chevas Numata singled in Sean McCracken, but the Golden Eagles again answered in the bottom of the inning by scoring a run on a wild pitch.

CSI took the lead for good in the fifth on a sacrifice fly, then added two more insurance runs in the sixth on a double by Kholeton Sanchez for the final margin.  Will Morris (5-2) went the distance for CSN in the loss.

In the suspended game, Southern Idaho scored two unearned runs in the first inning before Van Hoosier blasted a 3-run home run to left field to give the Coyotes a 3-2 lead.  The game was called due to rain in the bottom of the seventh with runners on the corners and one out, and picked back up the next day.  CSI tied the game at 3, then CSN scored a pair of unearned runs in the eighth inning and held on for the win.  Cory Welch earned his seventh save of the season.

The Coyotes took advantage of five CSI errors in the third game of the series by scoring five unanswered runs.  Bobby Shiroky scored on an error in the fifth before CSN put up a 4-spot in the sixth.  A sacrifice fly by Kayden Porter scored Morgan Stotts, then Shiroky singled in Numata to make it 3-1.  Shiroky and McCracken then both scored on an errant throw by the Golden Eagles' third baseman for the final margin.

Southern Idaho won the final game of the series on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning.  McCracken doubled and reached third base in each the second and seventh innings, but could not score.

With the series split, CSN maintains a three-game lead on rival Western Nevada (32-16, 17-11 SWAC) heading into this week's Silver State Showdown.  Salt Lake (32-16, 20-12 SWAC) is two games back of the Coyotes, clinging on to second place via percentage points.  SLCC heads to Southern Idaho this week for a rivalry showdown before having a bye week prior to the postseason.
