LAMAR, CO (May 16, 2019) – The No. 5 College of Southern Nevada baseball team did not rest on its laurels in Thursday's Western District Championships, rolling to a run-rule victory to open the tourney.
The Coyotes picked up an 11-1 run over Trinidad State Junior College, advancing to Friday's winners' bracket semifinal at 3:00 p.m. against Central Arizona College. CSN posted 13 hits in a runaway victory that moves Southern Nevada just two wins away from the NJCAA College World Series.

Roger Riley scored the first run of the game, scoring on a
Cole Schaefer RBI single in the second inning. After Trinidad State scored in the third inning to tie the game, the Coyotes responded with a three-run home run by
Steven Rivas, followed up by a Riley single. Southern Nevada would bat through the lineup in the inning as Rivas also hit a two-run double. CSN had three extra-base hits in the third inning alone.
Rivas had a monster game at the plate, finishing 3-of-4 with four RBI's.
Matt Wong went 2-of-3 and also had a pair of RBI's. CSN pitcher
Matt Gilbertson threw a complete-game victory, throwing five innings while surrendering an unearned run. He also struck out four TSJC batters.
The winner of Friday's CSN-Central Arizona game will advance to Saturday's championship game. The loser will play an elimination game on Friday night. The tournament is a double-elimination format.
