HENDERSON, Nev. (September 19, 2019) – After an up-and-down week, the College of Southern Nevada women's soccer team was looking for a bounce back performance against in-state rival Truckee Meadows Community College Lizards.
The Lady Coyotes received just that on Thursday at Heritage Park in Henderson, earning a 3-1 victory over the Lizards to break a two-match losing streak. The win boosts CSN's overall record to 7-2 and 1-1 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
In a game that CSN dominated offensively, it was
Lianna Soifua who gave Southern Nevada a 1-0 lead in the 27
th minute of the match. TMCC tied the match in the 43
rd minute but Soifua again helped the Lady Coyotes reclaim the lead in the 66
th minute on an unassisted goal.
Nohemi Mendoza provided the clinching goal late in the match, taking a Soifua assist in the 85
th minute.
Southern Nevada finished with an 18-2 advantage in shots, including a 10-1 edge in shots-on-goal. Mendoza led the Lady Coyotes with 9 shots, with 6 of them being on goal.
The Lady Coyotes will host nationally-ranked Salt Lake Community College in a match on Saturday at Heritage Park. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
