Coyotes complete the sweep over Southern Idaho

HENDERSON, Nev. (February 29, 2020) – The College of Southern Nevada baseball team successfully finished off a Scenic West Athletic Conference series Saturday.

The Coyotes earned a four-game sweep of the College of Southern Idaho, picking up a 16-8 victory. The win pushed CSN to 17-8 overall and 4-0 in Scenic West play. Southern Nevada is also on a six-game winning streak.

In a game that went back-and-forth, Southern Nevada took an early 2-0 lead before CSI scored five runs in the second inning to claim a 5-3 lead. CSN scored four runs in the fifth inning to reclaim the lead, with both teams going back and forth until the Coyotes scored four runs in the sixth inning and five runs in the seventh inning to finish with the run-rule victory.

The seventh inning run-rule win was keyed with a two-run Joey Walls single and a Kris Bow RBI single ended it all. Walls also had a two-run single in the sixth inning. He finished the game with a monster impact, going 3-of-5 with 5 RBI's (including an RBI triple). Austin Plante finished going 3-of-3 with 4 RBI's and Cole Schaefer went 3-of-4.

Jamin Kalaola earned the pitching win for the Coyotes, throwing 1.1 innings and striking out two Golden Eagles while allowing a hit in relief. Offensively, Southern Nevada posted 18 hits in the win.

CSN will have an off-week next week, returning to the field on March 12 to host a four-game series with Colorado Northwestern Community College.
