MESA, AZ. (February 8, 2020) – The College of Southern Nevada baseball team earned a victory in a non-conference game on Saturday in Phoenix.
The No. 12 Coyotes downed Gateway Community College, 9-3, in a game in the 'Zinger Bat Invitational' on Saturday. The win boosted Southern Nevada's overall record to 5-4 overall.
CSN got on the board in the second inning, scoring on an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead. Gateway came back to take a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, with Southern Nevada reclaiming the lead in the sixth inning with two runs scored on a
Dax Fellows home run and a
Joseph Walls RBI single.
Southern Nevada posted four runs in the eighth inning and a pair of runs in the ninth inning to lock down the victory, keyed by a Fellows RBI double in the eighth inning.
Fellows finished the game going 2-of-3 at the plate with 3 RBI's.
Austin Plante was 3-of-5 in the game, with
Kris Bow going 3-of-3 with 4 RBI's.
Garrett Clarke earned the pitching victory, throwing seven innings of four-hit, two-run ball while striking out six batters.
