PRESCOTT, AZ. (May 21, 2021) – The 2021 season has ended for the College of Southern Nevada baseball team.
The Coyotes lost to Yavapai College for the second-consecutive day, falling in a 14-13 elimination game to fall out of the West District tournament. CSN earned a 13-3 victory earlier in the day.
Southern Nevada finished the 2021 season with a mark of 46-17 overall, claiming the Region 18 tournament last weekend.
Yavapai 14, Southern Nevada 13: An early CSN lead didn't stand up in a walk-off win for Yavapai.
Johnny Cuevas hit an early two-run home run to give the Coyotes an early 3-0 lead.
John-Howard Bobo later hit a three-run home run in the third inning, with Cuevas stretching the CSN lead to 7-3 in the fourth inning. The two teams alternated the lead back-and-forth as the innings went on, with Southern Nevada claiming the lead on a solo home run by
Justin Olson. However, Yavapai scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to claim the victory.
Olson went 3-of-4 at the plate to lead CSN. Bobo led the team with five RBI's.
Joey Magrisi earned the pitching loss.
Southern Nevada 13, Western Nebraska 3: CSN posted eight runs in the first two innings, rolling to the win.
Damiano Palmegiani hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give CSN an early lead, hitting another two-run home run in the second inning.
Justin Olson also added a two-run home run in the second inning.
Johnny Cuevas and Olson went 3-of-3 in the game, while Palmegiani went 2-2 with four RBI's.
