HENDERSON, Nev. (April 1, 2022) – The College of Southern Nevada Softball team dropped a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday.
CSN was swept in a pair of games, falling 14-6 and 10-7 to open a four-game series at USU Eastern. The losses dropped Southern Nevada to 12-16 overall and 9-9 in Scenic West games.
The Lady Coyotes and USU Eastern will play another doubleheader on Saturday.
USU Eastern 14, Southern Nevada 6: USU Eastern moved to an early lead to take the win.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 10-0 win, prior to Kenley Cole hitting a two-run home run in the third inning to get CSN on the board.
Jocelyn Shupp added a solo home run in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 12-3, prior to the Lady Coyotes going on.a late rally that fell short.
Liliana Gutierrez went 2-of-3 to lead the Lady Coyotes, while
Leina'ala Sakay went 2-of-2.
Amber Triviso earned the pitching loss.
USU Eastern 10, Southern Nevada 7 Another early lead saw the Lady Coyotes fall for the second straight game.
After USU Eastern took a 3-0 lead,
Taylor Hendricks hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Liliana Gutierrez then added a three-run home run in the fifth inning to keep the Lady Coyotes in the game. Unfortunately CSN fell late.
Gutierrez went 3-of-4 at the plate to lead Southern Nevada, with
Codilyn Olds taking the pitching loss.
