HENDERSON, Nev. (January 29, 2023) – The College of Southern Nevada Baseball team capped off an impressive opening weekend Sunday, finishing off a sweep in a preseason tournament.
The Coyotes, hosting the 'Manny Guerra Memorial Coyote Border Battle - Presented by Johnny Mac's Sports Bar & Grill', finished off a four-game sweep of the tournament, posting an 8-1 win over Arizona Western on Sunday. The win lifts CSN to 4-0 to open the season.
Mayze Mosher helped the Coyotes take an early lead, hitting an RBI double to help CSN to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Southern Nevada kept adding to the advantage, taking a 6-0 lead after a two-run
Jackson Castillo triple in the fourth inning.
Mosher went 2-of-3 at the plate to lead CSN.
Naun Haro threw four innings to earn the pitching win, posting a strikeout.
Southern Nevada will travel to Arizona for the 'Zinger Bat Invitational' tournament next weekend, opening play with New Mexico Junior College on Friday.
