HENDERSON, Nev. (April 15, 2023) – The College of Southern Nevada Softball team did everything in its power to win a doubleheader at Southern Idaho Saturday.
Unfortunately for CSN, it was another split on the day as Southern Nevada posted a 7-4 win, then earned an 18-2 loss in the second game. The day's results sit Southern Nevada at 23-19 overall and 15-13 in Scenic West games.
Southern Nevada will host Snow College next weekend.
Southern Nevada 7, Southern Idaho 4: Consistent hitting lifted the Lady Coyotes to the victory.
Tied at 1-1 in the third inning,
Cynthia Alvillar hit an RBI single to give CSN the lead, followed up by
Mia Flores hitting a solo home run to boost the Lady Coyotes to a 3-1 advantage. Kyanna Galvin blasted a two-run shot in the sixth inning, followed by Flores posting a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Kayley Cole went 3-of-4 at the plate to lead CSN, while Flores was 2-of-3 with four RBI's. Flores also earned the pitching win, moving to 5-2 on the season.
Southern Idaho 18, Southern Nevada 2: A fast start turned into a run-rule loss for Southern Nevada.
Kayley Cole and
Caitlin Covington both hit solo home runs in the first inning, giving CSN an early 2-0 lead. That lead quickly evaporated though, with Southern Idaho posting a run-rule victory.
