HENDERSON, Nev. (May 10, 2023) – One victory down, two victories to go for the No. 10 Southern Nevada Baseball team.
 
CSN opened the Region 18 tournament at home Wednesday, downing USU Eastern, 5-2, in the opening round of the tournament. Southern Nevada will now face the winner of a game between Salt Lake and Southern Idaho Thursday.
 
Jackson Castillo stole the show in the Region 18 opener, hitting a solo home run in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1. He then hit a go-ahead home run in the fifth inning to give CSN its first lead, 2-1, prior to hitting a sacrifice-fly RBI in the eighth inning. Mikey Cruz, Jr., and Bradley Stone also had RBI's in the eighth inning.
 
Castillo was 2-of-3 in the game, leading CSN with three RBI's. Austin Cates earned the pitching win, throwing six innings and posting eight strikeouts. 
 
Southern Nevada will play again on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Morse Stadium. The Region 18 championship game will be played Friday at 12:00 p.m.
