CSN Coyotes Secure Victory as Coach Nick Garritano Marks 500th Career Win

Las Vegas, NV - February 10, 2024

In a thrilling match-up at Earl E Wilson Stadium, the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes secured a significant victory against South Mountain Community College, marking a memorable milestone for their head coach Nick Garritano. With a final score of 5-2, the Coyotes showcased their prowess on both offense and defense, delivering a memorable performance.

The game began with both teams demonstrating solid defensive efforts, with neither able to gain an early advantage. However, it was the Coyotes who struck first in the bottom of the second inning when outfielder Ashton Zacher tripled to right center, showcasing his speed and power on the basepaths. Zacher then capitalized on a wild pitch, putting the Coyotes ahead 1-0.

South Mountain responded in the top of the third inning, with D. Chacon driving in a run with a sharp single to right field, tying the game at 1-1. But the Coyotes quickly regained control in the bottom of the fourth inning, capitalizing on defensive errors by South Mountain to score four runs, highlighted by a clutch RBI double from Ashton Zacher and a timely single from Garrison Geis.

Despite a valiant effort from South Mountain, the Coyotes' pitching staff, led by starter Seth.Graham-Pippin held strong, limiting their opponents to just two runs on four hits. Graham-Pippin delivered an impressive performance on the mound, striking out one batter and allowing only two earned runs over four innings of work.

However, the highlight of the game came off the field, as head coach Nick Garritano celebrated his 500th career win at CSN. Garritano, a respected figure in college baseball, has dedicated years to developing young talent and molding them into competitive athletes. His milestone victory is a testament to his leadership and the hard work of his players.

In post-game remarks, Coach Garritano expressed gratitude for the support of his team and the CSN community. "It's an honor to reach this milestone with such a talented group of young men," said Garritano. "I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together, and I look forward to many more victories in the future."

The Coyotes' victory not only showcased their skill on the field but also served as a fitting tribute to their esteemed head coach. As they continue their season, the Coyotes will undoubtedly draw inspiration from this milestone win as they strive for further success on the baseball diamond.
