College of Southern Nevada Holds Off Scottsdale Community College for 8-5 Victory

Scottsdale, AZ - February 24, 2024

In a thrilling match-up at Scottsdale Community College, the College of Southern Nevada softball team emerged victorious with an 8-5 win over Scottsdale Community. The game showcased the Coyotes' resilience and offensive prowess, securing their fourth victory of the season.

The College of Southern Nevada wasted no time asserting their dominance as they jumped to an early lead in the second inning. Center fielder Kenady Converse kicked off the scoring with a run, quickly followed by clutch hits from Camryn Hunkins and Chaleah Workman, putting the Coyotes ahead 1-0.

However, it was in the third inning where the Coyotes truly shined, erupting for an impressive five runs to extend their lead. Sierra McLean delivered a powerful home run, while the team capitalized on Scottsdale Community's defensive miscues to put themselves in a commanding position.

Scottsdale Community fought back valiantly in the fourth and fifth innings, narrowing the gap with three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. However, the Coyotes' pitching staff, led by London Lamb and Alivia Parks, managed to stifle Scottsdale Community's offense and maintain control of the game.

McLean's home run was undoubtedly the highlight of the game, showcasing the Coyotes' offensive firepower. Additionally, solid performances from players like Brytnee Caldwell, Mayelli Elicerio, and Miranda Garcia contributed to the Coyotes' offensive onslaught.

Defensively, the Coyotes remained solid throughout the game, preventing Scottsdale Community from mounting any significant comeback. Despite a late rally from their opponents, the Coyotes' pitching and defense held firm, securing the victory.

The victory marks an encouraging start to the season for the College of Southern Nevada softball team. With their confidence boosted, they will look to carry this momentum forward as they continue their campaign in the upcoming games.
