West Jordan, UT- The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) baseball team faced tough challenges in a doubleheader against Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) on March 29, 2024, at Cate Field. Despite their efforts, CSN struggled to secure victories in both games.
In the first game, SLCC showcased their offensive prowess, securing a convincing 12-2 win over CSN. The game started with CSN taking an early lead in the first inning with a score of 1-0. However, SLCC quickly responded with a strong performance, scoring 4 runs in the third inning, followed by an impressive 7-run outburst in the fourth inning. CSN managed to add 1 more run in the fifth inning, but SLCC's offense proved to be too much to handle. Notable performances in this game included L. Jacobs from SLCC, who had 3 hits and 2 RBIs, and G. Bauer, who contributed a home run and 3 RBIs.
Moving on to the second game, SLCC continued their dominant form, securing an 8-1 victory over CSN. Despite CSN's efforts to generate offense, SLCC's pitching and defense held strong throughout the game. CSN managed to score a run in the second inning, but SLCC responded strongly with a 6-run outburst in the bottom of the second inning, setting the tone for the rest of the game. SLCC's pitching duo of S. Timmer and Z. Johnsen limited CSN to just 1 run and showcased excellent control on the mound.
Overall, it was a challenging day for the College of Southern Nevada baseball team as they faced formidable opponents in Salt Lake Community College. Despite the losses, CSN showed resilience and determination, aiming to bounce back stronger in their upcoming games as they continue their season.
