College of Southern Nevada Softball Faces Tough Losses Against Salt Lake Community College

Henderson, NV - The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) softball team encountered challenging matchups against Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) on March 30, 2024, at Lady Coyote Field in Henderson, NV. Despite putting up a strong effort, CSN faced tough losses in both games against SLCC.

Game 1 Recap:

In the first game of the day, SLCC dominated the field, securing a decisive 19-0 victory over CSN. SLCC's offense came out strong from the beginning, scoring 2 runs in the first inning and steadily adding more runs throughout the game. Their 12-run fifth inning sealed the win, highlighting their offensive prowess.

Key players for SLCC included M. Mansfield, who had an outstanding performance with 3 hits, including a home run and 4 RBIs. K. Ruesch also contributed significantly with a home run and 5 RBIs. On the pitching side, T. Hermansen delivered a shutout performance, limiting CSN to just 1 hit while striking out 5 batters.

For CSN, the game was a tough defensive battle as they struggled to contain SLCC's potent offense. Despite the loss, Camryn Hunkins managed to record a triple, showcasing her offensive skills.

Game 2 Recap:

In the second game, SLCC continued their strong performance, defeating CSN with a final score of 13-3. SLCC's offense once again displayed power and consistency, scoring runs in every inning except the third. B. Marvin led the charge with 3 hits and 2 RBIs, while A. Shaver contributed significantly with 5 RBIs, including a double.

On the mound, M. Cahoon delivered a solid pitching performance for SLCC, holding CSN to 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 11 batters.

CSN showed resilience in the second game, with Chaleah Workman hitting a home run and contributing 1 RBI. However, SLCC's strong offensive and pitching performances proved to be too much for CSN to overcome.

The losses dropped CSN's record to 10-22 for the season. As they continue their season, CSN remains optimistic and determined to bounce back with better performances in the upcoming games.
