College of Southern Nevada Dominates Colorado Northwester in a Decisive Victory

Rangely, CO – April 19, 2024 The College of Southern Nevada's baseball team showcased an impressive performance at the Rangely field, toppling Colorado Northwester with a staggering 13-2 win. The victory marked a significant highlight in CSN's season, demonstrating both skilled play and strategic prowess.

From the very first inning, CSN set the pace. Brady Ballinger, the team's first baseman, made his presence known by scoring the first run after a fly out by Mikey Cruz brought him home. The team continued this aggressive play throughout the game, amassing a total of 13 runs on eight hits, overshadowing Colorado Northwester's 2 runs on just two hits.

The second inning saw CSN ramp up their efforts further, adding three more runs to their tally. The true show of force came in the third inning when they scored five runs, effectively sealing the fate of the game early on. Dylan Venturini doubled, driving in Garrison Geis for a start. Further hits by Jack Wheatley and another single by Marcos Carrasco saw more runners crossing the plate. Errors by Colorado Northwester's defense added to their woes, allowing CSN to capitalize further.

Pitching for CSN was another high point, with starter Lucas Boesen throwing five innings and striking out nine, while giving up only two runs. Boesen's performance earned him the win, moving his season record to 1-0. Relief pitcher Brian Uribe closed out the last two innings flawlessly, preventing any further runs and solidifying CSN's dominant performance.

Colorado Northwester struggled to find their footing against CSN's pitchers. Their two runs came in the second inning, but their hitters couldn't manage more than two hits off Boesen and Uribe, combined. A series of fielding errors—eight in total—further hampered their efforts and showcased the pressure CSN's offense put on their opponents.

Brady Ballinger had an exceptional game, not only scoring three runs but also walking twice and stealing a base, showing both his power and speed. Other notable performances included Tyman Long, who managed an RBI single and a stolen base, and Jack Wheatley, who contributed with key hits and two RBIs.

This game was not just another win but a statement by the College of Southern Nevada, showing their depth and readiness as they advance further into the season. With a record of 33-8, CSN is looking strong and poised for the challenges ahead, aiming for a deep run in the upcoming postseason tournaments.

As the season progresses, CSN's cohesive team dynamics and robust training are paying off, promising an exciting trajectory for this talented squad. The focus now shifts to maintaining this momentum and refining their strategies to ensure they remain at the top of their game. With such a comprehensive victory, the College of Southern Nevada's baseball team is clearly a force to be reckoned with on the diamond.
