Coyotes Dominate in Second Game Against Central Arizona

Henderson, NV - The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Coyotes continued their strong start to the ACCAC conference play with a commanding 10-2 victory over Central Arizona College in the second game of their three-game series. The game was held at Morse Stadium in Henderson, NV, on January 31, 2025, and saw CSN extend their conference record to a formidable 4-1.

The Coyotes wasted no time establishing their dominance, scoring four runs in the very first inning. The inning was sparked by singles from Roy Durham and Ashton Zacher, followed by a critical double from Chaz McNelis, which drove in two runs. Teddy Chartier added to the early rally with a two-RBI single, putting CSN up 4-0. This strong offensive start was crucial in setting the tone for the rest of the game, as the Coyotes capitalized on their momentum.

On the mound, Kaden Soder delivered a solid performance, earning his first win of the season. Over five innings, he allowed just one run on four hits while striking out five. His command and ability to escape jams minimized the threats from Central Arizona, keeping them at bay throughout his time on the mound.

Defensively, CSN played a clean game with no errors, a stark contrast to Central Arizona's three miscues. This defensive solidity ensured that any rallies by Central Arizona were short-lived and that the Coyotes maintained control of the game's flow.

The Coyotes continued their offensive onslaught in the third inning, adding two more runs. This was highlighted by a wild pitch that allowed Brandon Swanson to score from third, and an error by Central Arizona's center fielder, which allowed Chaz McNelis to score from second. CSN's ability to capitalize on their opponents' mistakes was a recurring theme throughout the game.

In the seventh inning, CSN sealed their victory with three more runs, fueled by aggressive base running and timely hitting. Ashton Zacher tripled and later scored on a single by Chaz McNelis, who then scored on a sacrifice fly by Jack Wheatley. The inning encapsulated CSN's approach throughout the game: aggressive at the plate and swift on the bases.

The Coyotes added their final run in the eighth inning when Jake Gorrell, running for Ashton Zacher, stole third base and scored on a wild pitch. This run capped a game that was dominated by CSN from start to finish.

The pitching staff closed out the game effectively, with Mayson Reichartz pitching two scoreless innings, striking out four, and allowing only one hit. The bullpen's performance ensured that the lead built by the offense was never in jeopardy.

With this win, CSN improved to 6-1 on the season and took a significant step toward securing a top spot in the ACCAC conference standings. The series concludes with game three scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 p.m., where the Coyotes will look to continue their dominant form and complete a series sweep against Central Arizona.

This victory not only underscores CSN's strengths in all facets of the game but also builds momentum and confidence as they progress through a crucial part of their season. With solid pitching, disciplined hitting, and error-free defense, the Coyotes are shaping up to be formidable contenders in the ACCAC conference.
