Palm Springs, CA— The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes opened their ACCAC play with a resounding 12-0 win against the Community Christian College in the first game of a four-game series, moving their season record to 5-9 and 1-0 in conference play.
Bryn Connors starred from the circle, pitching a flawless game with 10 strikeouts and allowing no hits over five innings, earning her first win of the season. The Coyotes' offense erupted for 12 runs on just five hits, capitalizing on aggressive base running and taking full advantage of Community Christian's defensive mishaps.
The game was effectively decided in the first two innings, with CSN posting three runs in the first, followed by a staggering eight runs in the second. Jimena Barraza-Caro was a catalyst for the Coyotes, scoring three times, stealing three bases, and driving in a run with a triple in the fifth inning.
Mariela Rodriguez and Justice Lavin also contributed to the scoring, with Rodriguez knocking in two runs and Lavin adding an RBI. The Coyotes were relentless on the base paths, with multiple stolen bases contributing directly to several scoring opportunities.
Community Christian's pitcher Annreesia Wayman struggled from the start, surrendering eight runs in just over an inning of work before being relieved by Luma, who also found little respite against the aggressive Coyotes lineup.
This victory sets a positive tone for CSN as they look to continue their momentum in the double-header scheduled for the following day at 11:00 AM. With this commanding performance, the Coyotes are signaling their readiness to contend seriously in ACCAC play.
