Coyotes Seize Late Victory in Nail-Biter Against Roughriders

Prescott, AZ - In a pivotal ACCAC showdown at Roughrider Park, Prescott, Arizona, the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes secured a dramatic late-game victory over Yavapai College Rough Riders, winning 5-4. This win marked their second victory in the three-game series, solidifying the Coyotes' strong season start with a 9-1 overall record and a 7-1 standing in conference play.

The Coyotes opened the scoring in the first inning when Jaxson Reiser doubled down the left field line, bringing Chaz McNelis home. Despite this early lead, the game intensified as Yavapai responded in the third inning with two runs, including a key double from Liam Richards that drove in Aj Diaz.

Kaden Soder started on the mound for CSN and faced significant challenges, surrendering four runs across five innings but striking out seven. Mayson Reichartz followed with a crucial two innings of relief, holding the Roughriders scoreless and earning his first win of the season. Simon Lemke and Andrew Kaplan continued the bullpen's efforts, with Kaplan securing his fourth save after navigating a tense final inning where Yavapai threatened but ultimately failed to score.

The Coyotes' bats were relatively quiet until the eighth inning when they erupted for four runs to reclaim the lead. Ashton Zacher's three-run homer was the highlight, completely altering the momentum of the game. This home run, along with Chaz McNelis's earlier triple and RBI, showcased the Coyotes' ability to strike hard and fast. McNelis finished the day going 3-for-5 with two runs scored, proving instrumental in the Coyotes' offensive strategy.

Defensively, CSN was mostly solid with Brandon Swanson being the only player to commit an error. This error did not lead to a run, illustrating the team's ability to overcome minor setbacks. The infield, anchored by Jack Wheatley at shortstop, played a crucial role in maintaining the lead late in the game.

Yavapai College, although leading for most of the game, showed resilience and a knack for timely hitting. Liam Richards was a particular thorn in CSN's side, contributing with both a double and a home run. The Rough Riders' bullpen, however, struggled to contain CSN's late offensive surge, with Nick Garcia taking the loss after allowing the decisive home runs.

The game was filled with pivotal moments, including a tense ninth inning where Yavapai had the tying run in scoring position. Kaplan's ability to strike out Matthew Peterson and Brady Francisco with runners on base highlighted his composure under pressure and secured the victory for CSN.

With this win, the Coyotes not only solidify their top position in the ACCAC but also carry momentum into the final game of the series against Yavapai. The team's ability to perform under pressure and deliver in crucial moments bodes well for their aspirations this season. The Coyotes look to sweep the series in their next matchup, which promises to be as thrilling as the first two games.

As the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes continue their campaign in the ACCAC, their blend of strong pitching, timely hitting, and solid defense sets them apart as a formidable contender in the league. The final game against Yavapai will be crucial in maintaining their lead in the conference and setting the tone for the remainder of the season.
