COOLIDGE, AZ – The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes suffered a decisive 11-1 loss to Central Arizona College in the second game of their three-game ACCAC series on Friday. The defeat brings the Coyotes' record to 30-8 overall and 16-7 in conference play.
After an even start in the first inning, Central Arizona broke the game wide open with a six-run onslaught in the second inning, effectively putting the game out of reach early. The Vaqueros continued to dominate, adding three more runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to cap off their scoring.
Central Arizona's Z. Wadas was a force to be reckoned with, driving in three runs on a homer and a sacrifice fly, while T. Kennedy contributed a triple and two RBIs. T. Silva also made an impact with a sacrifice fly to bring in a run in the fourth.
CSN's starter Chase Frey, who had been solid all season, struggled to contain the Vaqueros, allowing six runs on five hits in just two innings of work. His early exit marked his first loss of the season, moving his record to 6-1. The bullpen did little to stem the tide, with Blake Uribe and Ethan Broome allowing additional runs.
The lone bright spot for CSN came in the third inning when Chaz McNelis doubled to drive in Kaiden Smaka, who had reached base on a walk. Unfortunately for the Coyotes, that would be their only run as Bro. Johnson pitched a complete game for Central Arizona, limiting CSN to just one run on three hits while striking out seven.
As the series concludes, CSN will look to salvage a win and regain some momentum as they continue their season.
