HENDERSON, NV — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes demonstrated their prowess on the field with a convincing 7-2 victory over Salt Lake Community College Bruins in the second game of their three-game series at Morse Stadium. The win improved the Coyotes' impressive season record to 23-4.
The Coyotes wasted no time, opening the game with a burst of energy and scoring five runs in the first inning. This early rally was sparked by a series of hits and capped off by a two-RBI double from Roy Durham, which set the tone for the rest of the game. Ashton Zacher and Brandon Swanson also contributed to the scoring with key RBIs, overwhelming SLCC's starting pitcher Austin Taylor, who struggled to contain CSN's hitters.
Austin Taylor, who took the loss for SLCC, lasted only one inning, giving up six earned runs on nine hits. His counterpart, Logan Smith of CSN, showcased a solid performance, pitching two scoreless innings and striking out two, earning him the win.
CSN continued to apply pressure in the following innings, adding another run in the second and one more in the fourth, thanks to consistent batting and strategic base running, including stolen bases by Chaz McNelis, Roy Durham, and Matthew Ziroli.
On the other side, SLCC's offense couldn't find much room to operate against CSN's tight defense and effective pitching. Easton. Romero provided a brief highlight with a two-run homer in the fourth inning, but that was all the Bruins could muster.
Defensively, the Coyotes were flawless, not committing a single error throughout the game, while SLCC's pitchers struggled with control, giving up several walks and wild pitches that further extended CSN's lead.
As the series heads into its final game, both teams stand at one win apiece, setting the stage for a decisive third game. The Coyotes will look to capitalize on their dominant performance to clinch the series, while the Bruins aim to bounce back and secure a series victory. With the series now evenly matched, the final contest promises to be a thrilling conclusion to this competitive matchup.
