Henderson, NV — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes continued their impressive season with a solid 4-0 victory against the Eastern Arizona College Monsters in the first game of their three-game ACCAC conference series at Morse Stadium. This win propels the Coyotes to a stellar 25-4 overall record and 13-3 in conference play.
Kaden Soder delivered an exceptional performance on the mound, tossing a complete game shutout. He allowed just three hits while striking out 11 batters, dominating the Monsters' lineup throughout the game. Soder's control and power were on full display, ensuring that the Monsters never found their rhythm at the plate.
The Coyotes' offense was sparked early in the game, putting two runs on the board in the first inning. Chaz McNelis and Harvey Smerdon ignited the lineup with back-to-back singles, setting the stage for Anthony Marnell IV, who delivered a clutch two-RBI single to right center. This early lead provided the Coyotes with the momentum they needed, and they didn't look back.
The team added another run in the second inning when Alex Rhynes sored on a sacrifice fly by Harvey Smerdon, and then another in the fifth after a series of aggressive base running led to Smerdon scoring on an error by the Monsters' catcher, T. Schroeder.
Eastern Arizona College struggled to find offensive opportunities against Soder's pitching prowess. The Monsters' C. Rosado took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on ten hits over six innings of work. Defensive missteps, including errors by T. Schroeder, G. Pedersen, and K. Carlos, hindered any chance of a Monsters comeback.
The Coyotes' balanced attack was evident as they managed to scatter ten hits throughout the game. Chaz McNelis and Alex Rhynes each collected two hits, helping set the table for their teammates. The team also showcased their speed, with multiple stolen bases contributing to their scoring efforts.
As the series continues, the Coyotes look to maintain their dominant form and further solidify their position at the top of the ACCAC standings. The next game promises to be another exciting matchup as CSN aims for another series win to add to their successful season.
