Prescott, AZ (September 13, 2025) – The College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes women's soccer team delivered one of their most impressive performances of the young season. Playing in their second ACCAC contest of 2025, CSN struck three times in the first half and rode the brilliance of goalkeeper
Madison English to a dominant 3–0 shutout victory over Yavapai College.
With the win, the Lady Coyotes improved to 2-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in ACCAC play, gaining valuable momentum as they continue a tough opening stretch of the conference schedule. Yavapai, meanwhile, was left frustrated after firing off 28 shots but failing to crack CSN's disciplined defensive wall.
From the opening whistle, the Coyotes looked sharp, organized, and confident. After drawing a scoreless result at home the previous week against Mohave, CSN came into Prescott determined to find the back of the net early.
Their intent was rewarded in the 15th minute. Midfielder
Savannah Foschetti, pushing high into the attack, received a perfectly weighted pass from defender
Iliana Arias. With a composed finish, Foschetti buried the shot for her first goal of the season, giving the Lady Coyotes a 1–0 lead.
The momentum snowballed just one minute later. Forward
Nathaly Perez-Rodriguez, one of CSN's most dynamic attacking players, capitalized on a defensive lapse and slotted home a second goal in the 16th minute. Suddenly, CSN held a commanding 2–0 advantage, and the Roughriders were reeling.
The Lady Coyotes weren't done yet. In the 35th minute, veteran defender
Kate Oliva pushed forward from the back line and ripped a shot that found the net, making it 3–0. For Oliva, it was a reward for her relentless two-way play, and for CSN, it provided breathing room that would prove crucial as Yavapai mounted their response.
While the Lady Coyotes' attack stole the headlines in the first half, the second half became the stage for goalkeeper
Madison English. The sophomore delivered a career-defining performance, recording 11 saves on Yavapai's 28 total shots.
Time and again, the Roughriders pressed forward, but English's quick reflexes and positional awareness turned them away. She denied Andres Pulido-style long shots from midfielders like Bethanee Vargas, cut off through balls directed at forwards like Reagan Peterson, and commanded her penalty area with authority.
Perhaps her most impressive sequence came midway through the second half, when Yavapai unleashed three shots in a span of 90 seconds. English parried the first, smothered the second at her near post, and leapt high to tip the third over the crossbar. Her teammates rushed to congratulate her, knowing that her saves preserved the clean sheet and crushed Yavapai's hopes of a comeback.
While English was the last line of defense, she was far from alone. The back line of Oliva, Arias, and
Monica Lopez-Torres held firm under relentless pressure. They blocked shots, cleared dangerous crosses, and kept Yavapai's talented attacking corps off balance.
Arias, in particular, delivered a standout effort. Not only did she provide the assist on Foschetti's opening goal, but she also won multiple one-on-one battles against Yavapai's speedy winger Nataly Arangure, preventing her from breaking into space.
Oliva's leadership also proved critical. Her ability to communicate, organize the line, and step into passing lanes neutralized Yavapai's attempts to build rhythm in the attacking third.
Statistical Snapshot
The box score underscored just how remarkable CSN's performance was:
- Final Score: CSN 3, Yavapai 0
- Goals: Foschetti (15'), Perez-Rodriguez (16'), Oliva (35')
- Shots: Yavapai 28, CSN 15
- Shots on Goal: Yavapai 11, CSN 3
- Saves: English 11, Yavapai 7
- Cards: None (a cleanly played match despite intensity)
Yavapai dominated in raw shot totals, but CSN was ruthlessly efficient with their finishing. Three shots on goal, three goals. That kind of clinical execution is what separates good teams from great ones.
Beyond the goal scorers, the Lady Coyotes saw meaningful contributions up and down the roster. Midfielders
Kassandra Gonzalez,
Ximena Gonzalez-Galeno, and
Valeria Castillo each logged valuable minutes, breaking up Yavapai's passing and providing outlets for counterattacks.
Freshman forward
Natasha Oeland came off the bench and nearly added a fourth goal in the 70th minute, forcing a diving save from Yavapai's second-half keeper Talon Bennett.
Kauwela Chen and
Citlalli Galicia-Rivera also added energy in the attack, helping CSN maintain pressure late in the game.
The balance of veterans and younger players reflects a growing depth within the squad—a key factor as the grind of the ACCAC season unfolds.
Winning on the road in ACCAC play is never easy, and doing so at Yavapai's home ground is especially impressive. The Roughriders have long been known for their proud tradition and hostile environment, but CSN silenced the Prescott crowd early and never looked back.
The result sends a clear message: the Lady Coyotes are legitimate contenders in the conference race. With a record of 2-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in ACCAC play, they've built confidence while still identifying areas to improve, particularly in sustaining possession and limiting shot volume against them.
The Lady Coyotes now turn their focus to their next test: a Tuesday, September 16 matchup in Thatcher, AZ against Eastern Arizona College. The Gila Monsters have historically been a tough opponent, and the match represents another crucial opportunity for CSN to establish themselves in the conference standings.
For Head Coach Jocelyn Roach and the Coyotes, the keys will be building on their defensive resilience, continuing to capitalize on attacking chances, and staying disciplined under pressure. If the team can replicate the efficiency and composure they showed in Prescott, they will be in prime position to collect another positive result.
In a conference where road wins are precious and clean sheets even rarer, CSN achieved both in emphatic fashion.
The Lady Coyotes' 3–0 victory at Yavapai was not just another result on the schedule. It was a statement. It was proof that CSN can weather storms, punish mistakes, and rise to the occasion when it matters most.
With English in net, a disciplined defense, and an attack that is finding its stride, the Coyotes are quickly emerging as one of the most balanced teams in the ACCAC.
As they head to Thatcher for their next test, they do so with momentum, belief, and a growing reputation as a team that no opponent can take lightly.
