HENDERSON, Nev. — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes delivered a dramatic walk-off victory Thursday evening, edging New Mexico Junior College 1–0 in 10 innings to remain unbeaten in the 2026 Manny Guerra Border Battle at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.
In a game dominated by pitching on both sides, CSN finally broke through in the bottom of the 10th inning when
Brandon Swanson lined a walk-off RBI single through the left side, scoring
Harvey Smerdon to secure the Coyotes' second win of the day and improve to 6–0 on the season.
The contest featured a scoreless duel through nine innings as both teams' pitching staffs controlled the tempo. CSN had opportunities throughout the night but was unable to push a run across until extra innings.
The Coyotes' pitching staff was outstanding, beginning with
Christopher Wrench, who delivered six dominant scoreless innings. Wrench did not allow a hit, walked two, and struck out 12 in his longest outing of the season.
James Bradford followed with three shutout innings of relief, allowing just one hit while striking out six to keep the game deadlocked.
In the 10th,
Andrew Kaplan entered from the bullpen and induced a inning ending double play, setting the stage for the Coyotes' walk-off rally.
With the bases loaded due to the Texas Tie Breaker rule, Swanson delivered the decisive hit to end the game.
Offensively,
Jeffrey Peters III paced CSN with two hits, while Smerdon doubled earlier in the game and scored the winning run. Swanson finished 1-for-4 with the game-winning RBI as the Coyotes scratched out four hits against a strong NMJC pitching effort.
New Mexico Junior College was held to just one hit on the night, as CSN pitchers combined for 18 strikeouts and did not allow a run across 10 innings.
With the victory, the Coyotes remain perfect through the opening two games of the Manny Guerra Border Battle. CSN will return to action Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. when it takes on Utah State Eastern.
The tournament continues Friday morning with New Mexico Junior College facing Central Arizona College, followed by Salt Lake Community College versus Central Arizona College. The full Manny Guerra Border Battle schedule can be found at
