Coyotes Dominate Yavapai 11–0, Complete ACCAC Road Sweep

PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Feb. 28, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada capped a perfect opening weekend of ACCAC play Saturday afternoon, overpowering Yavapai College 11–0 in five innings to complete the three-game road sweep.

With the victory, the Coyotes improved to 18–3 overall and 3–0 in conference play.

CSN wasted no time establishing control. The Coyotes pushed across a run in the first inning before erupting for three runs in the second and five more in the third to build a commanding 9–0 advantage.

In the second inning, Harvey Smerdon doubled and drove in two runs, while Michael Albanese added an RBI during the rally. The Coyotes broke the game open in the third, capitalizing on walks and timely hits. Jase DeSantis contributed an RBI, and Albanese delivered the decisive blow with a grand slam home run, giving CSN a nine-run cushion.

CSN added two more runs in the fifth inning to close out the scoring. Grant Smith doubled and drove in a run, and Alex Rhynes added an RBI as the Coyotes reached double digits.

Albanese finished 1-for-2 with four RBIs and a home run to lead the offense. Smerdon went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, while Rhynes scored twice and drove in a run. Evan Festa collected a hit and an RBI, and Jacob Nelson and Joey Randazzo each reached base and scored in the offensive surge.

On the mound, Dylan Venturini was dominant, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out five to earn the win. Boston Jensen worked a clean fifth inning, striking out two as the Coyotes secured the shutout.

The Coyotes will return home this weekend to host Cochise College in a three-game ACCAC series at Lied Field | Morse Stadium. The series begins Friday with a doubleheader, with Game One scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch. The finale will be played Saturday.
