CAC vs CSN 1.26.17

Pair Of Aces Dazzle Under The Vegas Lights

By James Hernandez

Henderson, NV- A much-anticipated showdown between two preseason top ten teams lived up to the hype. CSN freshman Matty Mitchell and CAC ace Nick Iverson dazzled in the night cap of the 2018 Coyote Border Battle. Mitchell and Iverson combined to strike out 14 batters over 9 innings of work, however it was Central Arizona who found the clutch hits when they needed them. With the game scoreless heading into the top of the fifth inning, the Vaqueros broke through with the games first run after a clutch two-out knock off the bat of Reagan Teegarden. CAC designated hitter Ernny Ordonez extended Central's lead to 2-0 with an RBI single in the sixth and clean-up man Alix Garcia plated the third run of the game for CAC in the eighth inning. CSN dropped its first game of the season 3-0 after producing just three hits in the game. CSN will be back in action tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. versus the Arizona Western Matadors.
