Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes Come Up Short vs #5 Salt Lake, 2-1

HIRRIAM, UT (October 10, 2019) – Starting the final leg of a long road trip, the College of Southern Nevada women's soccer team fell to the nation's No. 5 team Thursday.

CSN lost to No. 5 Salt Lake Community College in the program's fourth-consecutive road match, falling 2-1 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. The loss drops CSN to 9-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings.

It was a spirited battle between the Lady Coyotes and the SWAC-leading Bruins. Fresh off an upset victory over nationally-ranked Snow, CSN held tough to a scoreless tie deep into the first half. However, Salt Lake scored a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Southern Nevada mounted a charge early in the second half as Nohemi Mendoza scored a goal in the 60th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, SLCC's goalkeeper stopped the remaining CSN scoring threats to preserve the narrow win.

The Lady Coyotes will play in-state rival Truckee Meadows Community College on Saturday in northern Nevada. The match with the Lizards is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. CSN will return to Heritage Park for a home match against Colorado Northwestern on Oct. 17
