HENDERSON, Nev. (October 19, 2019) – The College of Southern Nevada women's soccer team earned a close victory to close the regular season Saturday.
The Lady Coyotes picked up a 2-1 win over rival USU Eastern in 'Sophomore Day' at Heritage Park. The win lifts Southern Nevada to 12-4-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
CSN struck first blood, scoring in the 3
rd minute to pick up an early 1-0 lead as
Nohemi Mendoza finished with a goal. After USU Eastern tied the match just minutes later, it was
Lianna Soifua who scored in the 78
th minute to give Southern Nevada the win.
Amanda Lujan finished with the victory at goalkeeper, making 5 saves in the win. Southern Nevada held a 17-12 advantage in shots, with Mendoza taking 7 shots.
Southern Nevada will now await its seed in the upcoming Region 18 championships, which are scheduled for November 1-2 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. Salt Lake Community College will host the championships.
