HENDERSON, Nev. (March 27, 2019) –After a week on the road, the College of Southern Nevada softball program will get to experience what it's like to be home this weekend.

The Coyotes will host a four-game series against nationally-ranked Salt Lake Community College at Lady Coyote Softball Field this weekend with doubleheaders scheduled for both Friday and Saturday. CSN split its series last weekend in Price, Utah, against USU Eastern, earning a close 7-6 victory in the series finale last Saturday.

Entering the end of the first round of play in the round-robin Scenic West Athletic Conference schedule, Southern Nevada is 7-16 overall and is 5-7 in league play. The Coyotes have split their last two series against Colorado Northwestern and USU Eastern.

Southern Nevada will have a stern challenge ahead this weekend as the No. 9 Bruins enter the Mojave Desert with a 21-5 overall record and a mark of 11-3 in the Scenic West that has them marginally ahead of Southern Idaho in the league standings. Their statistical success explains their impressive record as SLCC has the league's best batting average (.397 team average) and a 3.12 team ERA. In comparison, Southern Idaho has the league's second-best ERA at 4.77.

The Coyotes should have several weapons to help combat SLCC's momentum though as Breanna Alvarez lifted her team-leading batting average to .444 after last weekend's play, holding a team-high 36 hits and 9 doubles on the season. The Las Vegas native also has a team-best 6.74 ERA in the pitching circle.

CSN and SLCC will play a four-game series this weekend at Lady Coyote Softball Field, with Friday's doubleheader scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 12:00 p.m. Southern Nevada will travel for a four-game series at Southern Idaho starting April 5.
