Consistent Play For The Lady Coyotes Earns A Split vs Snow College

HENDERSON, Nev. (April 12, 2019) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team had a thrilling Friday at Lady Coyote Softball Field.

CSN powered to a walk-off victory in game one of a doubleheader against the Snow College Badgers, earning a rousing 6-5 win over the Badgers in the first game. CSN fell in the second game, 4-1. The day's games leave the Coyotes with an overall record of 9-24 and a record of 7-15 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

Southern Nevada and Snow will play another doubleheader on Saturday. The two programs will play at 12:00 p.m. at Lady Coyote Softball Field. Live stats will be available at csncoyotes.com.

Southern Nevada 6, Snow 5: A walk-off home run sent Southern Nevada to a series-opening win.

CSN's Bailey Pepper hit a three-run home run with two outs in the seventh inning to lead the Lady Coyotes to the victory, a game they didn't lead until the final at-bat. Snow scored four runs in the top of the second inning to take an advantage they wouldn't easily surrender. Southern Nevada would come back by scoring a run in the bottom half of the inning, scoring as Patricia Galtieri stole second and eventually scored on an error to get the Coyotes on the scoreboard.

In the fifth inning, CSN's Alexis Vigil hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 4-2. Snow responded with a run in the top of the seventh inning to boost their advantage back to 5-2 but CSN made a run of its own, loading the bases with one-out in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Coyotes scored a run on a sacrifice-fly, trailing 5-3 with two runners in scoring position and Pepper batting.

Pepper went just 1-of-4 in the game, hitting the walk-off home run. Breanna Alvarez went 3-of-4 in the game, part of Southern Nevada's 9 team hits. Karen Hernandez earned the pitching victory for CSN, throwing five innings while surrendering just one run and striking out eight batters.

Snow 4, Southern Nevada 1: CSN couldn't sustain a fast start as Snow atoned for a late collapse in game one by earning a commanding victory in game two.

Southern Nevada opened the game by posting an early run in the first inning thanks to Breanna Alvarez scoring on a Snow throwing error. Unfortunately, the early lead wouldn't hold up as the Badgers scored four runs over the next two innings, capitalizing on two CSN errors.

The Lady Coyotes made a run in the seventh inning, placing two runners in scoring position with one out. However, Snow was able to stem the tide and hold on for the victory.

Bailey Pepper led the Coyotes at the plate, going 2-of-3 at the plate.
