#9 Southern Nevada Takes Care Of Business With A 3-1 Series Win Over USU Eastern

HENDERSON, Nev. (April 27, 2019) – The No. 9 College of Southern Nevada baseball had a rare 2-1 record in one day, finishing a series against USU Eastern Saturday.

After Friday's game two was suspended in a 6-6 tie due to weather, the Coyotes responded by earning an 8-6 victory to start Saturday morning. CSN would power to a run-rule 13-0 win in game three before falling 7-4 in game four on a walk-off. The wins lift Southern Nevada's overall record to 38-7 and 21-5 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

Next weekend will conclude the regular-season and a series against nationally-ranked Salt Lake Community College will help decide the Scenic West title and the right to host the Region 18 championships. Southern Nevada and Salt Lake will play a four-game series with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday at Morse Stadium.

Southern Nevada 13, USU Eastern 0: There was little doubt for Southern Nevada in a dominating run-rule victory in game three of the series.

The Coyotes powered to their tenth-consecutive victory thanks to a sterling pitching performance by Buddy Pindel. Pindel pitched a scoreless game to move to 5-1 on the season, surrendering only two hits in the win. He also struck out five USU Eastern batters.

Southern Nevada posted 11 hits in the win, capitalizing on 6 USU Eastern errors in the scoring onslaught. Matt Wong led the team with a trio of RBI's.

USU Eastern 7, Southern Nevada 4: A late rally helped USU Eastern prevent the series sweep.

A three-run home run for the Eagles in the seventh inning helped them out of a game where they trailed 4-3 with only three-outs remaining. It was Southern Nevada who opened up the scoring as Jack Pineda had an RBI single in the third inning.

While USU Eastern responded in the fourth with three runs, the Coyotes chipped back with three RBI singles spread over the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead into the final inning. It was Dylan Sanchez who hit the game-winning home run for USU Eastern.

Pineda had an outstanding game, going 3-of-3 at the plate with a pair of RBI's. Johnny Cuevas started the game for CSN, throwing 3.1 innings in a no-decision.
