Lady Coyotes Go Extra Innings With The Golden Eagles

HENDERSON, Nev. (April 5, 2019) – If anything, the College of Southern Nevada softball program may be the most persistent program in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

Even though the Lady Coyotes aren't at the top of the league standings, CSN finds ways to play its best against top-tier league opponents. Southern Nevada did that last weekend in a game against Salt Lake and continued that trend of first-game energy by taking the College of Southern Idaho to the wire in a 10-6 extra-inning loss in Friday's game one. CSN also lost a 9-1 decision in game two.

The Lady Coyotes and Golden Eagles will play another doubleheader on Saturday. The scheduled start of the day's first game is 1:00 p.m.

Southern Idaho 10, Southern Nevada 6: An extra-inning classic ended in a heartbreaking loss for CSN.

In a back-and-forth game, Southern Nevada jumped ahead early before surrendering runs back to Southern Idaho that led to a 4-4 tie midway through the game. CSI came back to take a 6-5 lead before Alyssa Trujillo tied the game at 6-6.

The game would continue forward, with both teams having opportunities to push ahead, until Southern Idaho had a walk-off grand slam to end the game in the eleventh inning. The two teams combined for 21 hits in the CSN loss.

Trujillo led the Coyotes with a 2-of-5 performance at the plate.

Southern Idaho 9, Southern Nevada 1: CSI struck early and never looked back in an impressive victory.

The Golden Eagles took a 9-1 lead after three innings, powering to a run-rule victory. Southern Nevada scored a run in the second inning to cut the deficit to 2-1 before the Golden Eagles scored seven unanswered runs to take control.

Southern Nevada mustered just three hits with Brianna Hernandez and Bailey Pepper going 1-of-2.
