HENDERSON, Nev. (April 6, 2019) – It was another tough day at the office for the College of Southern Nevada softball team.
The Lady Coyotes were swept in a doubleheader, falling to the College of Southern Nevada by a mark of 5-2 in game one and 21-4 in game two. The losses drop CSN's overall record to 8-23 and 6-14 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Southern Nevada will host Snow College in a four-game series on Friday and Saturday at Lady Coyote Softball Field. Friday's doubleheader will start at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday's doubleheader will commence at 12:00 p.m.
Southern Idaho 5, Southern Nevada 2: A hot start helped the Golden Eagles hang on for the victory in the win over CSN.
Southern Idaho jumped out to a 4-0 lead and posted three runs in the third inning to jumpstart their offense. Southern Nevada got on the board in the sixth inning, scoring two runs thanks to
Alexis Vigil and
Alyssa Trujillo hits.
Vigil went 2-of-3 at the plate to lead CSN offensively.
Kayla Bello took the pitching loss.
Southern Idaho 21, Southern Nevada 4: A three-run first inning did little to help CSN's cause in a loss to the Golden Eagles.
Southern Nevada posted three runs in the top of the first inning as
Bailey Pepper hit a three-run home run to start things off for CSN. However, Southern Idaho responded by scoring four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. From there, CSI went on a 17-1 run that included a 10-run fourth inning.
Pepper finished the game going 2-of-3 with 3 RBI's.
Alyssa Trujillo and
Breanna Alvarez also finished 2-of-3.
