Lady Coyote Softball Host Yavapai Roughriders To Open 2020 Season

| By:

HENDERSON, Nev. (January 24, 2020) – After a long month of offseason conditioning, the College of Southern Nevada softball program is ready to take the field for its 2020 season opener on Saturday.

The Lady Coyotes will host a doubleheader with Yavapai College on Saturday at Lady Coyote Softball Field, playing games at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The weekend will serve as a warmup for the annual 'CSN Kickoff Classic – Presented by Fiesta Henderson Hotel and Casino', which will take place next weekend in Henderson.

In advance of the Saturday season-opener, CSN coach Ashley Johnston said her program is excited for what is to come this opening weekend.

"We are extremely excited to start the season," she said. "The girls have been working hard on the field this past week. With school still being out, we have got some quality practices in with competitive activities at the end of every practice."

Yavapai had a successful 2019 season, going 46-14 overall and falling in the NJCAA Region 1 championships. Yavapai also went 2-0 against CSN in 2019.

Johnston noted her program is prepared for the challenge of opening a season with a program like Yavapai.

"I believe these girls are ready for action," she said. "We still have good practice days left to work and tighten up any loose ends."

Both games this weekend will be available via the Scenic West Digital Network and with live stats at csncoyotes.com.
