HENDERSON, Nev. (February 19, 2020) – The College of Southern Nevada baseball team scored in double-digits yet again on Wednesday, powering to a sweep of Prairie Baseball Academy.
The Coyotes picked up a 13-2 win over Prairie at Morse Stadium, moving to 11-7 overall with the victory. CSN is now on a six-game winning streak.
An RBI fielder's choice started the scoring for CSN in the first inning, with the Coyotes taking a 2-0 lead after the second inning. A mixture of hits in the third inning helped Southern Nevada score five runs in the inning.
Peyton McGregor had an RBI double in the inning, along with
Nate Freimuth hitting an RBI single to left field.
Jack Pineda also had an RBI single in the inning. Freimuth posted a two-run double in the eighth inning.
Freimuth finished 3-of-4 at the plate, posting 5 RBI's in his plate appearances. McGregor went 2-of-4, while
Austin Plante finished 2-of-4.
Johnny Cuevas scored 4 runs.
Tanner Lewis earned the pitching victory, throwing four innings and striking out eight Prairie batters.
Southern Nevada will play Okanagan College on Thursday in the first game of the 'Coyote Slugout – Presented by Sunset Station Hotel and Casino'. The game's festivities will feature a ceremony honoring former CSN coach Tim Chambers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
