HENDERSON, Nev. (February 19, 2020) – After a week off, the College of Southern Nevada softball team will return to the diamond this week for its final games before the start of Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

The Lady Coyotes will return to the field Thursday to face off against Phoenix College, playing in a doubleheader. CSN has played its way to an impressive 7-4 record heading into this week's games, featuring strong play against regionally successful competition.

CSN coach Ashley Johnston said her team has met her expectations in the preseason and had tough workouts over the bye week.

"We practiced and worked the girls out pretty hard Monday-through-Wednesday, then we had an inner-squad Thursday," she said.

The Lady Coyotes will face off against Phoenix College in a road doubleheader on Thursday. The games will be played at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Johnston said she is looking for improvement from this week's game.

"Our goals are to make our adjustments all around the field," she said. "Our pitchers are working hard to get ahead in counts and not give up the 0-2 hit; our defense is working on communication and the offense is working to eliminate all the pop ups. If we can start to put all that together, we will start seeing big results within the team."

Southern Nevada will open Scenic West play on Feb. 28 with the College of Southern Idaho.
