TWIN FALLS, ID. (February 28, 2020) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team suffered a tough day to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Lady Coyotes were swept in a season-opening doubleheader with the College of Southern Idaho, losing games by scores of 11-10 and 11-6. The losses drop CSN to 7-8 and 0-2 in league play.
Southern Nevada and Southern Idaho will play another doubleheader Saturday in Twin Falls, Id.
Southern Idaho 11, Southern Nevada 10: A strong start gave way to a heartbreaking finish for CSN.
The Lady Coyotes took a 9-4 lead in the fourth inning after a
Brianna Benoit grand-slam home run, capping a strong start. Unfortunately, Southern Idaho responded and scored seven runs over the final three innings to earn the win.
Benoit finished the game going 1-of-3 with 4 RBI's.
Bailey Pepper went 2-of-4 with a pair of RBI's.
Southern Idaho 11, Southern Nevada 6: CSI jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
CSI took a 2-0 lead before Southern Nevada responded in the third inning to take a 3-2. The two teams went back-and-forth over the next three innings before the Golden Eagles scored 6 runs over the final two innings to earn the win.
Cailtin Livreri helped lead the team, finishing with a pair of hits and an RBI.
Bailey Bennett-Jordan threw five strikeouts in the game.
