HENDERSON, Nev. (January 29, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team picked up its first win of the young 2021 season on Friday, downing a Scenic West Athletic Conference rival.
The Lady Coyotes earned a 13-5 win over Snow College in non-conference action, moving to a mark of 1-2 in the season-opening 'CSN Kickoff Classic'. Southern Nevada posted 7 runs in the fourth inning to break the game open, finishing with 17 hits in the win.
Trailing 5-0 early, Southern Nevada's Caitlin Covi hit a two-run home run in the first inning to help CSN cut the deficit to 5-3. She later tied the game in the second inning on a two-run double, with the Lady Coyotes taking the lead in the fourth inning on a
Bailey Pepper RBI single.
Covi finished the game going 3-of-4, finishing with 5 RBI's while scoring a pair of runs. CSN's
Kayley Cole was a perfect 4-of-4 at the plate. Tyanna Kaail earned the pitching win for Southern Nevada, throwing a complete game victory and striking out 8 Snow batters.
Southern Nevada will close the tournament with a single game on Saturday, facing off against USU Eastern. The game will be played at 2:00 p.m. at Lady Coyote Softball Field.
