HENDERSON, Nev. (January 31, 2021) – A home-hosted tournament ended with an impressive victory for the College of Southern Nevada softball team Sunday.
CSN triumphed over Scenic West Athletic Conference rival USU Eastern at Lady Coyote Softball Field, winning a 6-5 decision. The win boosts CSN to 2-2 on the young season.
In a comeback effort for the Lady Coyotes, Southern Nevada trailed 5-1 in the third inning before
Bailey Pepper hit a two-run home run to cut into the USU Eastern lead. Jocelyn Shup followed up with a home run in the fifth inning to tie the game, with a Liana Nagami single scoring Pepper in the sixth inning for the go-ahead run.
Pepper led Southern Nevada at the plate, finishing 2-of-4 with a pair of RBI's. CSN's Tyanna Kaail earned the pitching victory, throwing three inning of relief and surrendering no runs.
Southern Nevada will return to the field on Thursday, February 4, traveling to play in a tournament hosted by Arizona Western College. The Lady Coyotes will play Arizona Western on Thursday, with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
