YUMA, AZ. (February 5, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team split a pair of non-conference games on Friday.
Playing in a doubleheader that was part of a tournament hosted by Arizona Western College, CSN fell 5-4 to Central Arizona and before responding to earn a 13-3 win over Eastern Arizona. The split pushes CSN to 3-4 overall.
The Lady Coyotes will close the tournaments on Saturday, playing Central Arizona and Yavapai College.
Central Arizona 5, Southern Nevada 4: An early CSN lead evaporated late as the Lady Coyotes were narrowly downed in a non-conference game.
Southern Nevada posted a 1-0 lead in the first inning, carrying a 1-1 tie into the fifth inning with Central Arizona. CAC posted three runs in the top of the fifth inning and added another in the seventh inning, icing the game in spite of a late CSN comeback.
Bailey Pepper finished the game going 2-of-4, scoring a pair of runs. CSN starting pitcher
Amber Triviso allowed six hits and two earned runs in 4.1 innings, getting no decision.
Southern Nevada 13, Eastern Arizona 3: CSN jumped out to an early lead in a run-rule victory.
The Lady Coyotes posted four runs in the first inning, adding seven more runs in the third inning to take an 11-1 lead after the third inning. CSN would finish the game with 11 hits, with

Tyanna Kaailaii and
Caitlin Covington all hitting home runs.
Kayley Cole finished the game going 3-of-3 at the plate, also scoring a pair of runs. Kaailaii also pitched a complete game, throwing five innings while allowing just three hits and striking out three EAC batters.
