HENDERSON, Nev. (February 8, 2021) - The No. 20 College of Southern Nevada baseball team returned from a week-long layoff Monday, downing a Scenic West Athletic Conference foe in non-conference action.

The Coyotes earned a 9-2 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College, opening a four-game series with a strong victory. The win boosts CSN's overall record to 4-1.

CNCC took an early 2-0 lead before Southern Nevada roared back in the bottom of the third inning, scoring two runs on a
Justin Olson RBI single to tie the game. The Coyotes added single runs in the fifth and sixth inning to stretch the lead to 4-2.

Southern Nevada erupted for five runs in the seventh inning, utilizing a
Damiano Palmegiani RBI double to put the game out of reach. The Coyotes hit well in the game, finishing with 11 hits as a team.

Olson led CSN at the plate, finishing 2-of-5 with a trio of RBI's.
Austin Plante and
Colby Smith both went 2-of-4.
Johnny Cuevas earned the pitching win, throwing five innings of two-hit ball while striking out eight CNCC batters.

The Coyotes and Colorado Northwestern will play a doubleheader on Tuesday, with both games being played at Morse Stadium. The day's first game will begin at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.Â
