Lady Coyotes sweep Friday doubleheader at Colorado Northwestern

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rangely, CO. (March 19, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team delivered a strong performance to open a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday, lifting to a road sweep. 
 
CSN swept Friday's play against Colorado Northwestern Community College, earning victories of 21-1 and 13-4 over the Lady Spartans. The wins boost CSN to 14-15 overall and 4-6 in Scenic West play.
 
Southern Nevada will play CNCC in another doubleheader on Saturday.
 
Southern Nevada 21, Colorado Northwestern 1: A quick start lifted the Lady Coyotes to a strong victory.
 
CSN posted six runs in the first inning, taking a 9-0 lead midway through the second inning. The Lady Coyotes would score in each inning, accumulating 22 hits in the victory.
 
Kayley Cole went a perfect 5-of-5 at the plate, while Caitlin Covington went 3-of-3. Covington also scored five runs and had five RBI's in the win. Tyanna Kaailaii earned the pitching victory, throwing five innings and allowing one run. 
 
Southern Nevada 13, Colorado Northwestern 4: A seven-run first inning lifted CSN to the doubleheader sweep.
 
The Lady Coyotes never trailed in the contest, posting runs in all but one inning of the five-inning, run-rule win. Liliana Gutierrez led CSN at the plate with a 3-of-3 performance. Amber Triviso had a pitching win with a complete-game performance, striking out four CNCC batters.
