CSN Softball dominates Colorado Northwestern in doubleheader sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RANGELY, CO. (March 20, 2021) – A Saturday doubleheader in adverse weather proved to be no issue for the College of Southern Nevada softball team.
 
The Lady Coyotes earned victories of 28-4 and 9-0 over Colorado Northwestern Community College, moving to a series sweep of the Lady Spartans. The victories boost CSN to 16-15 overall and 6-6 in Scenic West Athletic Conference games.
 
Southern Nevada will host USU Eastern in a four-game series at Lady Coyotes Softball Field next weekend.
 
Southern Nevada 28, Colorado Northwestern 4: The Lady Coyotes earned a run-rule victory in game one, scoring 13 runs in the second inning to power to the win.
 
CSN held a 5-2 lead after the first inning, powering to score 13 runs in the second inning. Southern Nevada would post runs in each of the five innings, finishing with 27 hits.
 
Kayley Cole went 3-of-4 at the plate, scoring five runs. Caitlin Covington was 4-of-6, scoring three runs and finishing with six RBI's. Covington also hit two home runs in the win.
 
Codilyn Olds earned the pitching victory, surrendering three earned runs while striking out three batters. 
 
Southern Nevada 9, Colorado Northwestern 0: CSN took an early lead and never looked back, holding the Spartans scoreless. 
 
Pitching was the key to the Southern Nevada win, with Tyanna Kaailaii earning the pitching win by allowing just two hits while surrendering no earned runs. Offensively, Lilliana Gutierrez and Bailey Pepper both produced at the plate, going 2-of-3 with a trio of RBI's apiece.
