HENDERSON, Nev. (March 27, 2021) – The No. 13 College of Southern Nevada baseball team finished up a peculiar series Saturday.
The Coyotes finished a doubleheader sweep of USU Eastern in Scenic West Athletic Conference action, earning wins of 4-2 and 7-5 to preserve a series sweep after Friday's games were canceled due to snow in central Utah. The wins give Southern Nevada an overall record of 25-6 and 10-1 in Scenic West play.
Southern Nevada will return to Morse Stadium next weekend to face Salt Lake Community College.
Southern Nevada 4, USU Eastern 2: Home runs ruled the day in a victory for the Coyotes.
CSN scored all of their runs off home runs, with
Joseph Walls and
Dax Fellows both hitting solo home runs in the first inning.
Damiano Palmegiani hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Palmegiani led CSN at the plate by going 2-of-4 with a pair of RBI's.
Colby Smith also contributed a 2-of-3 performance.
Johnny Cuevas earned the pitching win, throwing a complete-game while striking out eight USU Eastern batters.
Southern Nevada 7, USU Eastern 5: More extra-base hits led CSN to a victory in the series finale.
Joseph Walls opened the CSN scoring with a two-run home run in the third inning, while
Trey Frahm added a solo shot in the fourth inning.
Pomai Kim and
Colby Smith both hit solo home runs in the fourth inning.
Jacob Godman hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Walls led CSN by going 2-of-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI's.
Joey Magrisi threw a complete game to earn in the pitching win, striking out 13 batters.
