HENDERSON, Nev. (March 9, 2021) - The College of Southern Nevada Athletic Department continues to see several teams taking part in Scenic West Athletic Conference competition.

The Coyotes and Lady Coyotes have a full week, with Southern Nevada hosting competition in softball and volleyball. CSN's baseball team is taking a week off on a bye week for series in the SWAC.

Men's Basketball: After making their home debuts last week, the Coyotes head back out on the road for a three-game series with some of the Scenic West's traditional powers.

CSN will open a three-game week with a game against Southern Idaho on Tuesday, followed up by a game at USU Eastern on Thursday and a game against nationally-ranked SLCC on Saturday.

Southern Nevada coach Russ Beck said his team continues to improve as the weeks go on.

"This week we hit the road again for another epic Scenic West journey," he said. "We hope to steal a game or two on the road this week. We have now got 13 practices in the season and we are seeing our team making some strides. We also hope to really start bringing some things together in these next few weeks as we prep for the Region 18 tournament."

Softball: The CSN softball team suffered four heart-breaking defeats against Southern Idaho last weekend, but will look to turn the tide in a home series this week.

The Lady Coyotes will host Snow College in a four-game series at Lady Coyote Softball Field this weekend. The programs will play doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.

CSN coach Ashley Johnston noted her team has experienced success but still has room for improvement.

"We are very pleased with our offense as we put up 47 hits and 37 runs, but didn't come away with a win," she said. "Our pitching has got to get more consistent. We came off the previous week with a pitching staff ERA of 4.2, which resulted in four wins; last week we had a combined ERA of 12.8 and walked away 0-4. We know our pitchers' potential, so we just have to get more consistent. We have to be better for this explosive offense."

Volleyball: CSN Volleyball will host a pair of Scenic West matches this week inside the CSN Sports Center.

The Lady Coyotes will play against nationally-ranked USU Eastern on Wednesday, with a matchup against Colorado Northwestern on Friday. Southern Nevada lost a 3-2 heartbreaker against then-No. 11 Salt Lake last week.

Women's Basketball: CSN Women's Basketball will travel across the I-15 corridor this week for a trio of Scenic West Athletic Conference games.

Southern Nevada will open a three-game trip at Southern Idaho Tuesday, traveling to play at USU Eastern on Thursday and then finishing a trip with Salt Lake Community College on Saturday. All games will be streamed on the Scenic West Digital Network.
